Welcome to your blog!
Welcome Seniors! This year you will be using this blog to write about current events and contemporary issues that you see in the news or that are on your mind. This is a place to reflect on what is happening in the world around you and how you can be part of the solution as you are approaching the time when you will be becoming an adult.
By the end of each month, each of you has to post one blog post and comment on three other posts of your peers. Use this as a space to be reflective and creative! I'm excited to read your thoughts!

In this day in age, social media is one of the most influential things in our society today. Gabby Petito, 22 went on long cross country hike with her new fiance, Brian. On the social media side of things, they looked happy together, posting pictures of their trip and videos of each other. On September 1st, her fiance comes back with nothing but the van they took on the trip, no Gabby. This sparked concern for many of the people around her and she was reported missing ten days later. Although social media is very influential, could it influence people to think something different then is what actually going on? In this case they looked like they were having fun and now Brian is suspected of murder. Her body was found a few days ago... Now we are seeing the better part of social media. Just minutes after her body was found, the world knew about it. Everyone was updated on her case simply because of social media. This is the good part of the informative side rather then when there is false information given about someone. Social media is important in that with cases like this, people all around the world can become more aware of their surroundings. Also one in different areas can keep an eye out for Brian who ran away. Social media has impacted our world in many ways, and this just happens to be one of the good ways.
