Masks in school

Recently, the school year has started back up, and after a long covid free summer of no masks, we are required to wear masks in school. All summer we were allowed to go inside of stores and restaurants without masks with no capacity limit without masks. Once school started back up, we had to wear masks. I understand that everybody has a different opinion on this topic, but I personally think it's weird how there can be 110,000 unmasked people at a college football game lined up shoulder to shoulder in the stands and they are not required to wear a mask, but 1,056 students spread out through an entire school have to wear masks. Yes, everybody gets sick and spreads germs. But it has always been that way even before covid, and we didn't wear masks then.  (Wouldn't let me upload pictures)

United Nations Computers Hacked by Cyber Criminals by Nick Capeci

The United Nations was recently hacked by cybercriminals. Using stolen credentials, Cyber Criminals were able to hack their way into the UN (United Nations) computers. What exactly did the Criminals do you may ask? Well, the hackers stole a bunch of data that could be used against some international agencies. According to United Nations, the security found the breach to happen on August 5th, 2021. While the security when through the servers, they found that the hackers were still active on August 7th, 2021. United Nations was then told imminently. My question is if you figured out a breach why did you wait two days? Why not just report then and there and catch the hackers rather than waiting and the hackers to steal more important data. Now the United Nations are focused on improving their cyber security.  The founder of Blue Hexagon - a cyber security AI - Saumitra Das spoke out about cyber security and said  " Usually, organizations are too focused on the perimeter, and once...

Haitian immigrants-Jack Cisko

After the president of Haiti, Jovenel Moise, was assassinated on July 7th and recent reports of the Prime Minister was involved in the assassination many Haitians have been fleeing the country in search of a better life. It doesn't help that there was a 4.2 magnitude earthquake in Haiti less then a week ago as well. So they're seeking asylum from the US and Mexico and both countries are trying their hardest to stop them from entering America illegally. Mexico is helping by flying them to southern Mexico and the United States are trying to push them back into Mexico or fly them back to Haiti. However there are still over 9,000 Haitian immigrants camping under a bridge in south Texas. While some of them are going to get granted asylum or citizenship, most are not. However there is much controversy over videos and pictures of the border patrol riding on horseback with whips trying to get them to cooperate. Also obviously the republicans and the democrats are split on this issue b...

The Fiery Canary Islands: La Palma's Volcano Eruptions By Robby Cerra

The Fiery Canary Islands: La Palma's Volcano Eruptions                     https://www.cbsnews.com/news/la-palma-volcano-eruption-spain-cumbre-vieja-island-evacuation/ By Robby Cerra          Early afternoon on Sunday, September 19th, a small island of the Canary Islands, La Palma of Spain had a volcano erupt causing a large-scale evacuation of over 5,000 citizens. Local law enforcement has stationed over 400 firefighters in order to deal with any fires and blazes that could've been caused by the running lava. Furthermore, a local volcanology institute stated that there hasn't been an eruption this large for over 50 years. Multiple houses have been damaged as well as a highway that has been cut off by a wall of lava. The Spanish Prime Minister noted that in the close proximity of the eruption, there is a population of around 80,000 people, as well as a total of 400 tourists...

Overpopulation and population crowding by Aaron Do

There are soon to be over 8 billion individuals on this Earth. That number is higher than can be imagined by our human brains. We are using up all of the Earth's resources and more and more people are slipping into poverty as resource production stagnates while populations continue to rise. In China, the government has restricted how many children their citizens can have. Is this a right that can be taken away? In India, there are so many people overcrowded in a small area that disease spreads like wildfire. Even here in the US, people in the western states are restricted in how much water they can use, due to the droughts. These provisions are here in order to provide for everyone. There is no simple fix for overcrowding because reducing the population(legally) is a gradual process.  There is a light at the end of the tunnel, however. Today's adults are having much less kids than a couple generations prior, and dreams of getting resources from other planets are starting to bea...

Hotel Rwanda: Heroism or Terrorism? Desi Tsamadias

Some may know Paul Rusesabagina as a larger than life hero from the Hollywood-produced film "Hotel Rwanda", or even real life hero who saved many lives during the horrific Rwandan Genocide. On September 20th, he was convicted on terrorism charges. First, let's back track to the events of the Rwandan Genocide. This genocide is known today as one of the most horrific, devastating genocides in history. It arose from conflict during a Civil War between the more prevalent ethnic group the Hutus, and a less prevalent but more politically dominant group, the Tutsis. In 1959, the Hutus overthrew the Tutsi monarchy, leading tens of thousands of Tutsis to flee to neighboring countries. During this time, a rebel Tutsi group formed (the RPF) which invaded Rwanda in hopes of regaining a politic standing, and in 1994 a plane holding the then President and Vice President (both Hutus) was shot down, killing everyone on board. Hutu extremists blamed the RPF and immediately started a well...

Spotted Lanternfly

Over the past few months, an invasive species named the Spotted Lanternfly has been taking over the environment in New Jersey. These flies are indigenous to parts of China, India, and Vietnam. They have begun taking over the environments in Japan, South Korea, and the US. The Spotted Lanternfly likes to feed on many different types of fruits as well as trees. The SLF is easily spread far by people relocating infested materials or things that have eggs. In order to stop the spread and keep the environment intact, we need to constantly check trees for signs of large groups of insects, eggs, or unhealthy growth. Many health organizations have posted that if you see one of these insects, you need to report it immediately and kill it so it can't spread.

TExas border

About 10,000 migrants -- including families, pregnant women and babies -- were waiting to be processed by US immigration authorities, according to Del Rio Mayor Bruno Lozano.  The number of migrants -- many of them Haitian -- assembled in the temporary site swelled from roughly 400 a week ago. At times, the number has topped 14,000.   The number of migrants -- many of them Haitian -- assembled in the temporary site swelled from roughly 400 a week ago. At times, the number has topped 14,000.   The migrants sleep in tents or in the dirt, surrounded by growing piles of garbage, and they wait in hopes of being processed by the overwhelmed US Border Patrol. Few wear masks, despite the Covid-19 pandemic, US Border Patrol agents on horseback try to stop Haitian migrants on Sunday from entering an encampment on the banks of the Rio Grande near the Acuna Del Rio International...
